Carlisle: Esme's creator. They met once before when Esme was sixteen and he fixed her broken leg. They were quite taken with each other. Esme later married a man called Charles but ran away when he beat her. After the loss of her son she threw herself off a cliff and was assumed dead in a morgue, with her pulse still slightly racing, Carlisle changed her into a vampire for her to be his mate. They later married. Their relationship is one built on a strong spiritual and intellectual bond. Only aiding the relationship is the fact the pair
are completely in love with one another. Obviously, Esme has never regretted becoming a vampire as she is able to spend eternity with the man/vampire of her dreams.
More than eighty years had passed since Carlisle had found Esme, and yeat he still looked at her with the incrdulous eyes of first love. it would always be that way for them.
